HARRY COSHAM - 2003

BBC Radio York, Sandy Dunleavy - Harry Cosham interviewing Graham Bell, BBC TV's Ski Sunday presenter.  Graham Bell, 5 times Olympian is regarded as one of the finest Downhill skiers the UK has ever had. Is Harry the next? Only time will tell! - TO LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW, PLEASE CLICK BELOW:

Harry 7 - Interviewing Graham Bell

Hello/Guten Tag, I'm 9 years old and had my first ski lesson at SNO!zone, Castleford at 18 months. I’m now in my third year of ski racing in GS and slalom, and have the advantage of having my dad coach me; he is also the Head Coach for SZ Racing Club.  Over the next coming year I'm hoping to win lots more medals and hopefully one day get in to the GB Team and win Olympic Gold for Britain.   I train twice a week at SNO!zone, Castleford, if you are ever in the area, please pop by and see me, and my team mates in training.

If anybody would like to sponsor me for future races/training camps or equipment, I would greatly appreciate your help.  I would wear the sponsors logo at every opportunity where appropriate including at training sessions, prize ceremonies and press releases.  I'm currently learning to speak German so I will get the best out of my training in Austria.

Thank you for looking at my web site.

GOLDEN BOY HARRY ON THE UP-SLOPE, by Stuart Martel

Park Life - York Evening Press, 9th July 2011

SKI racing seven-year-old Harry Cosham has come away from three major championships in the North of England with a fistful of gold medals.  Cosham, a pupil at Wilberfoss Primary School, is now rated as one of the best Mini 1s in the country after eye-catching performances in Manchester and Castleford.  He started his run of success by winning the Slalom Minis in the Chill Factore Fun Summer League Two in Manchester.  That was followed up with two further gold medals – in the under-8s Giant Slalom at the Yorkshire Championships in Castleford, and the Slalom Combined Minis 1 and 2 at the Telford Club National in Manchester in which he won his age group and came fifth overall.  For the second year running, Cosham junior has been invited to train in August at the Race Ski Camp run by Olympic gold medal-winning Austrian skier Benni Raich.  “I love ski racing – it’s the best thing ever,” said Cosham. “It is just brilliant winning medals and being the fastest I can be.” Anyone interested in sponsoring Cosham can log on to the website www.harrycosham.co.uk for further details.

HARRY SKIS TO GOLD MEDALS, by Jonathon Doubtfire

Sport Pocklington Post, 30th June 2011

SEVEN-YEAR-OLD ski racer, Harry Cosham from York has sped away from three recent major championships in the North of England with a fistful of gold medals.  Harry, a pupil at Wilberfoss CE Primary School, is now rated as one of the best Mini 1's in the country.  He returned from two championships in Manchester and one in Castleford having won two out of three slalom events and one giant slalom he entered.  He started his run of success by winning the Slalom Minis in the Chill Factore Fun Sumer League 2 held in Manchester earlier this month.  He then followed it up last weekend with two gold medals - the under-8s Giant Slalom at the Yorkshire Championships held in Castleford and the Slalom Combined Minis 1 and 2 at the Telford Club National, Chill Factore in Manchester in which he won his age group and came fifth overall.  The youngster, trains twice a week at SZ Racing Club, Castleford under the watchful eye of his coach and Dad, Lee Cosham, Head Race Coach for SNO!zone, Castleford.  For the second year, Harry has been invited to train at the prestigious Race Ski Camp in August run by Olympic gold medal winning Austrian skier, Benni Raich.  "Harry wants to get into the Great Britain "GB" team and for him to achieve his goal he needs to train with other up and coming child skiers from all over Europe" said his Dad, Lee.  "We now desperately need a sponsor to help Harry get to these training camps and also to get to the European races".  If anyone is willing to sponsor Harry we would appreciate your help and he would wear your name on his ski jacket.  "We are so grateful to SNOzone who already donate slope time for Harry but he now needs more help to achieve his ambitions.  Harry has been skiing since he was 18 months old and has now been joined by younger brother, Ralph (three) who has just taken to the slopes.  "I love ski racing - it's the best thing ever," said Harry.  "It is just brilliant winning medals and being the fastest I can be."

COSH, IT'S HARRY ON BOLD GOLD RUN, by Stuart Martel

Park Life - York Evening Press, 2nd October 2010

SEVEN-YEAR-OLD ski racer Harry Cosham from York has topped some of the country’s young skiers at a national competition in Manchester bringing home gold and bronze medals.  A pupil at Wilberfoss Primary School, Cosham competed against young skiers from all over the UK at the Fun Summer Race League held at Chill Factor in Manchester.  He competed in three of the four races coming first and third overall.  The youngster recently attended an Austrian Ski Camp run by Olympic gold medallist Benni Raich for training.  Said his delighted mum, Lou Cosham: “This ski camp was very hard work with a high standard of physical training but it has paid off for Harry.  “Harry was overjoyed with his times and he was ahead of his nearest rival by 3.66 seconds.”  She added: “Sadly he only competed in three of the four events this time and so did extremely well to come away with the bronze medal.  “However, next year we are planning he will compete in the whole league and hope he comes top.”  Cosham received his medals from 2002 Olympic medallist, Alain Baxter, who congratulated the young skier from Shiptonthorpe and wished him well with his future events.  Baxter has been invited to do some training with SZ racing club, at SNO!zone Castleford where Cosham trains twice a week.  The Wilberfoss School pupil’s next ski race will be in the Scottish homeland of Baxter when he competes in the Scottish Indoor Championships in Glasgow.

Sport Pocklington Post, 22nd July 2010

PINT-SIZED piste hero Harry Cosham was in pole position last weekend with another gold medal victory.  Harry aged, seven skied away with the top prize in the under eight category of the mini two slalom event at Chill Factore, Manchester.  The victory came just seven months after the Wilberfoss Primary School pupil's triumph in the mini giant slalom competition in Scotland where he also came away with gold.  The youngster's mum Lou Cosham said: "You should have seen his little face, it means so much to him."  Harry, pictured above with his medal trains at the SZ Racing Club, Castleford every Saturday afternoon and Tuesday night where his dad Lee Cosham is the head race coach.  With both parents being ski instructors, Harry has grown up with the sport and hit the slopes for the first time when he was just 18 months old.  His next event is at Manchester in September but in August Harry plans to travel to Austria for a Race Camp run by Olympic Gold Medalist Benni Raich.
